Cardon, 80, of Middleton, died Tuesday, February 15, 1994, of natural causes at
St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday,
February 18, 1994, with the viewing from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the North
Caldwell Stake Center, Hwy. 30. Burial will follow at Middleton Cemetery.
Royal was born August 22, 1913, in Ogden, Utah, to Anna Augusta Dahlstrom and
John Royal Cardon. The early years of his life were spent in Inkom, Idaho, where
he met and married Dorothy Lucille Beckley on March 24, 1939. They spent nearly
55 wonderful years together. He was awarded a 4-H scholarship to attend the
University of Idaho, Moscow, in 1934. Royal and his young family farmed in Idaho
and later moved to Washington for 16 years. They then moved to Alaska where he
worked as a carpenter on the Alaska Pipeline Project. Upon retiring in 1978, he
moved his family to Idaho where they settled in Middleton. He spent his
retirement years doing what he loved most, growing a bounteous garden and
beautifying his home. He served faithfully in the Latter-day Saints Church as a
high priest and in many other positions, including a genealogical extraction
mission with his wife, Dorothy, for 18 months.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother and one

Royal Stephen Cardon of Bothell, Washington, Priscilla Jane Brown of Sandy,
Utah, Darcy Marie Kahler of Fairfield, California, Jonette Lucille Atkinson of
Salem, Oregon; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly
missed by all those whose lives he touched.
